I saw this photo on Pinterest and knew I had to share it -- it really looks like a sunset into the water.

One family tradition we have is a nautical tree.  It started small, in fact, it did not even start as a tree.  Our "tree" started with a couple nautical decorations we hung on a ship’s wheel clock.  Then one night, I though, hummmm we have enough decorations for a  small tree.

Soon after, my dad took over the duty as nautical tree decorator.  Our nautical tree has expanded to include a nautical village underneath… it’s quite a site to see.

Lots of examples out there on Pinterest!  I even found a site dedicated to mini-beach theme trees... here's a link

Here are my favorite nautical tree decorating tips 1) start small with a mini-tree. 2) Blue lights!  3) Inexpensive solid color balls with sparkle to enhance the nautical ornaments.  4) use rope for garland AND your tree skirt.

Send me a photo of your nautical tree!  Use the Pontoon Girl App.  #itsapontoonthing
